About the Course
This 2 day academy incorporates both the Level 1 and Level 2 Defensive Shooting Fundamentals courses. This academy is an excellent opportunity to complete both Defensive Shooting Fundamental courses back to back. Upon completion of the course, students will receive a certificate of completion for both Level 1 and Level 2.

This academy is designed to maximize your learning and skill development.
DAY 1:
Defensive Shooting Fundamentals will guide you through the steps you'll need to take to go from just sending rounds downrange to actually training in specific, tested methods of armed self-defense. You will learn stance, grip, and physical shooting techniques. Defensive Shooting Fundamentals Level 1 will help you hone the edge on your inner warrior expert. You'll get your body working with your gun instead of against it, you'll learn which intuitive skills work best with what your body will naturally do while under stress in a combat situation, and you'll learn to apply this information simply and effectively - regardless of your skill level.
This course is perfect for both new and experienced shooters. All students will learn and find value from the course content and skills taught.
DAY 2:
Building on the skills introduced in Defensive Shooting Fundamentals Level 1: Training Your Mind And Body To Respond, Defensive Shooting Fundamentals Level 2: Training For Real-Life Scenarios guides the serious defensive shooter through the necessary skill-building drills and techniques that can make the difference between dying and living and, equally importantly, simply living and truly prevailing.
This is an advanced course. Completion of Level 1 is a prerequisite to attend Level 2.
Your Instructor
Tom F.
Tom has been an armed professional for the past two decades and has been a firearms instructor for the past 10 years. Outside of being an instructor, his background is in Law Enforcement and high level Executive / Dignitary Protection Operations serving as operations director and team leader in various high profile and high risk details - domestically and internationally. Tom has achieved certifications as an Anti-Terrorism Specialist, Forensic Investigator, and numerous other industry specific accolades. In 2013, Tom launched a security and investigations firm offering executive level protective services in several states throughout the United States.
While still working in the private sector, Tom founded SKILLSET Defense Academy to bring his training and experience to our students and has built a cadre of world class instructors to teach alongside him. His goal with SKILLSET is to bring his skills and the skill set's of other top tier instructors under one roof to maximize the training and knowledge delivered to students.
Tom is an NRA instructor, a NRA Range Safety Officer, a USCCA defensive firearms instructor, and a P.O.S.T certified Tactical Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor (Peace Officer Standards and Training). He holds additional instructor certifications in workplace violence prevention, Active Shooter Response, and has been featured in numerous publications discussing safety, security, and home defense.
